Social Justice Committee

 Community Conversations

• Held once a month from 7:00 - 9:00 pm at the church.
• Donations to pay for the coffee and desserts will be welcomed, but not required. 
• September 28, 2006. The topic is Peacemaking.  We will be showing a PSB video on the organizing principles and success in the non-violent desegregation of lunch counters in Nashville, Tennessee.  The video is part of the three-part documentary series, A Force More Powerful, which explores how nonviolent power overcame oppression and authoritarian rule in the 20^th century.  The video will be followed by a discussion period.
• October 26, 2006. The topic is a Dialogue on Race presented by the YWCA.
• November 21, 2006, to be announced.
• December 21, 2006, to be announced.

 

Areas of Interest this church year include Peacemaking, Global Warming, Refugee rights/Immigration Issues.

The next Social Justice Committee is tentatively scheduled for Sunday, September 17, 2006, after potluck.
