2011 Summer Classes
This year for Summer CRE we are trying a whole new format. Each month there will be two Sundays with traditional curriculum, the other two Sundays are where it really gets exciting. One Sunday a month the kids will work on a social justice project—June is planting an herb garden for use by the congregation, July we are making “birthday bags” for our local food bank and in August we are baking dog biscuits to deliver to the local animal shelter. The remaining Sunday in each month will be for a children’s worship service. There is a 5th Sunday in July and it is reserved for a special “messy” art project.
Our theme this year is “Summer of Social Justice.” All of our curriculum lessons are taken from the UUA’s Tapestry of Faith curricula selections dealing with topics relating to Social Justice and activism. Children will learn about the need for social justice in our communities and around the world and then explore ways to act on those needs.
Join us for a fun-filled summer of caring and sharing!
Due to a dip in attendance that always occurs in the summer months, we will combine the 4 older classes into two classes for the summer. The Anthony and Alcott classes will combine and the Emerson and Young classes will combine.
